PRESS RELEASE (Attention News Desk) October 7, 2009 BANK ROBBERY On October 7, 2009, at 1:10 p.m., the Farmington Public Safety Department responded to the Best Bank, located at Farmington and Nine Mile (Crossroads Plaza) inside of the Harvest Fresh Grocery Store on a reported robbery. Officers learned that a bank teller was approached by a suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of money from the bank teller and fled on foot. Farmington Public Safety officers and a Farmington Hills Police Department K-9 unit searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect. The K-9 unit followed a track from the scene to a near-by apartment complex parking lot where it is believed the suspect had a vehicle waiting. An elementary school was placed on lock down for a short time while officers searched the area. The suspect is described as a black male, late 30’s, 5’7” – 5’9” tall, 200 -220 lbs. The suspect was wearing green medical scrubs, black sunglasses, possibly a dreadlock wig and white shoes. Deputy Director Robert Schulz stated “Thankfully no employees or citizens were harmed during the robbery. Farmington Public Safety Detectives will be working the FBI to try and locate the responsible person(s).” The Farmington Public Safety Department has photos available for the media on electronic format.
