The Farmington fire service, under the direction of Fire Marshal Reginald Madeline, provides fire and emergency medical services to the community.
The Fire Marshal performs fire inspections, site plan reviews, safety programs, as well as schedules and performs fire equipment maintenance. He also coordinates monthly fire fighting and medical training. Each member of the department is trained to a Michigan Firefighter II level and all members are trained medical first responders. Three officers are certified emergency medical technicians.
Some of the fire services provided by the department include: fire extinguishment, fire inspections, hazardous materials response, child car seat checks, smoke detector give-away program, and public education seminars on fire safety and first aid. Due to quick response times, the total fire loss in 2008 was estimated at $345,139.
