NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH REPORT
OCTOBER 2009

 

The monthly Neighborhood Watch report contains a summary of information important to Neighborhood Watch members.


MURDERS
None.


SEXUAL ASSAULTS
None.


ROBBERIES
 -  A purse was stolen from an eighty-five year old woman waiting for a ride in the parking lot of K-Mart.

 - A man wearing a wig and medical scrubs robbed the Best Bank located inside Harvest Fresh Market.


BURGLARIES
 - A business burglary occurred at the Uptown Plaza Dollar Store.

 - A home invasion occurred on Lark Harbor Street.


LARCENIES

 - Four tires and wheels were stolen from a garage on Maple Street.

 - A lock was punched on a car parked at Drakeshire Apartments.

 - A wallet was taken from a customer at Panera Bread.  The stolen wallet was taken from inside a purse strapped to the back of a chair.  Thieves immediately used the credit cards at area businesses.

 - An IPod was stolen out of a backpack at Farmington High School.

 - A camera was stolen from the cafeteria at Farmington High School.

 - A purse was stolen out of a car at Chatham Hills Apartments.

 - A GPS and IPod were stolen out of a car at Chatham Hills Apartments.

 - An unsuccessful attempt to steal four tires and wheels occurred at Kensington Manor Apartments.

 - Personal items were stolen from a car parked at the Ram’s Horn restaurant.

 - Jewelry was stolen out of a locker at Farmington High School.

 - A camcorder, money and credit cards were taken from a car at Jamestown Apartments.

 - A cell phone was stolen from a pool locker at Farmington High School.

 - A vehicle was broken into on Hillcrest.  Nothing was taken.

 - A bicycle was stolen at Drakeshire Apartments.  Two teens have been arrested.

 - A wallet left by a customer at Harvest Fresh Market was stolen by another customer.  Farmington detectives arrested the perpetrator at his residence.

 - A GPS was stolen from a parked car at Grand River and Cass.

 - Credit cards were stolen from a car parked on Blanchard.  The responsible persons were arrested. 

 

VEHICLE THEFTS
 - A Jeep was stolen from the parking lot near Dress Barn.

 - A Honda Civic was stolen at Drakeshire Apartments.


VANDALISM
 - Graffiti was painted on the wall behind Firestone Tire.


CRIME APPREHENSIONS
Outstanding work by public safety officers in October solved numerous crimes.

Several car larcenies were solved.

Search warrants and crime scene processing solved numerous burglaries in Farmington and Farmington Hills.  Several persons have been arrested.

Two bicycle thieves were apprehended.

Several persons using stolen credit cards taken during car larcenies were identified and will face prosecution.


CRIME PREVENTION THOUGHTS/REMINDERS
Farmington and area communities are experiencing an increase in larceny from autos.  Locked and unlocked cars have been targeted.  The vehicles selected for attack have all had valuables in plain sight, such as wallets, purses, laptops and GPS units.  Keep valuables out of sight.
