The monthly Neighborhood Watch report contains a summary of information important to Neighborhood Watch members.
MURDERS
None.
On June 14th, Commander Frank Demers arrested two men for the 1979 execution murder of Julius Schnoll. The murder occurred at the former Great Scott supermarket at Ten Mile and Orchard Lake Road. Commander Demers re-opened the investigation in 2006. The commander was acknowledged for his outstanding work by Public Safety Director Chuck Nebus and Oakland County Prosecutor David Gorcyca at a June 19th press conference.
ROBBERIES
None.
HOME INVASIONS
On June 5th, several figurines were reported stolen from an apartment burglary at Kensington Manor Apartments.
BUSINESS BURGLARY
None.
LARCENIES
On June 2nd, a resident on Lamar reported a video game stolen out of an unlocked car.
A bicycle locked to a pole on Shiawassee was stolen on June 4th.
On June 6th, three parked vehicles were broken into at a Grand River business.
On June 20th, a Schulte resident reported a stolen door knocker.
On June 27th, someone tried to steal coins from a washing machine at Drakeshire Apartments.
On June 28th, a restaurant employee on Grand River reported money stolen from an unattended purse.
Three cell phones, an IPod and money were reported stolen at Farmington High School during the month. All the items were left unattended or unlocked when stolen.
STOLEN VEHICLE
On June 23rd, a resident of Valleyview Condominiums reported a stolen vehicle.
On June 27th, a resident on Grand River reported a troubled house guest took his vehicle.
MONTHLY CRIME PREVENTION REMINDERS
Please report any illegal drug activity to the public safety department (248-474-4700). Callers may remain anonymous. The departments Narcotic Suppression Unit (NSU) follows up all tips. NSU executed a successful search warrant and made arrests during June.
Residents are doing a much better job of keeping garage doors closed this summer. There were no reports of stolen mowers, yard equipment, tools, etc., Keep up the good work and keep garage doors closed and locked whenever possible.
Please continue to report unlicensed solicitors. Several were ticketed in June and eight unlicensed solicitors were ticketed in the early part of July. Several out of state unlicensed solicitors have been staying at local hotels. Many represent companies suspected of fraud. One solicitor, arrested on warrants, scammed a Farmington resident out of cash after promising to send magazines to military personnel.
