NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH REPORT

DECEMBER 2008

 

 

The monthly Neighborhood Watch report contains a summary of information important to Neighborhood Watch members.

 

 

MURDERS

None.

 

SEXUAL ASSAULTS

None.

 

ARMED ROBBERY

None.

 

 

BURGLARIES

No residential burglaries.

 

A single storage unit at two different apartment complexes were broken into.

 

 

LARCENIES

A car stereo was tampered with inside an unlocked car on Oakland Street.

 

A purse was stolen from an employee lounge at a local business.

 

A Disney globe was stolen out of an unlocked car at Valley View Condominiums.  Another vehicles glove box was ajar, but nothing was stolen.

 

An IPod was stolen from an unlocked locker at Farmington High School.

 

 

VEHICLE THEFTS

None.

 

 

VANDALISM

The clubhouse at Brookdale Condominiums was vandalized on New Years Eve.

 

 

HOLIDAY CRIME

There were no December robberies, residential burglaries, purse snatchings, etc. that sometimes occur over the holidays.  Although the department arrested 163 drunk drivers during 2008, none were arrested on New Years Eve.

 

 

SPECIAL OPERATIONS

During the month of December, Farmington Public Safety Department personnel participated in a special under cover sweep and arrest of 206 felons wanted for serious crimes in the Detroit metropolitan area.  One subject arrested had boasted to Farmington officers that he would never be found.

 

A tobacco compliance operation in December resulted in the refusal of all Farmington retailers to sell cigarettes to a sixteen year old minor.   A letter of appreciation was sent to all of the merchants.

 

 

MONTHLY CRIME PREVENTION REMINDERS

Do not leave snow blowers unattended in plain view.  Remember to keep garage doors closed and keep sidewalks and driveways shoveled so homes appear occupied.

 

 

2008 CRIME STATISTICS

Farmington crime was down again in 2008.  Final statistics are yet to be determined.  The Farmington Public Safety Departments Annual Report is expected to be available on the website (farmingtonpublicsafety.com) by the end of March
