NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH REPORT

APRIL 2008

The monthly Neighborhood Watch report contains a summary of information important to Neighborhood Watch members.

ROBBERY

On April 5th, 9:51 p.m., two employees of Platos Coney Island were robbed and bound with duct tape.  Detectives have developed a suspect who is currently on parole for armed robbery.  The subject was captured on video tape in the area of the robbery near the time of the robbery.

HOME INVASION

On April 11th, a home invasion was reported on Floral Street.  Farmington police have arrested one suspect and have identified a second suspect.

BURGLARY

On April 10th, a safe burglary was reported at Burger King.

LARCENIES

On April 8th, a resident on Wesley Drive discovered a laptop stolen out of an unlocked  car.  The car was parked inside of a garage with the garage door left in the raised position by the home owner.

On April 9th, the glass was broken on three vehicles parked at the Farmington Tennis Club.  In-dash navigation systems were stolen.  A recovered purse, stolen out of one of the vehicles, led Farmington detectives to locate and identity suspects from another community.

On April 12th, a resident on Blanchard Boulevard reported a catalytic converter stolen from their vehicle.

On April 16th, a shopper at T.J. Maxx reported her purse was stolen off a baby stroller.

On April 26th, a motorist reported pills were stolen from his car while he was vacuuming his car at the Colonial Car Wash.

STOLEN VEHICLE

On April 6th, at 5:10 p.m., an employee of Zap Zone discovered broken glass and the ignition punched on her car.

On April 16th, a van was reported stolen from the K-Mart parking lot.

MONTHLY CRIME PREVENTION REMINDERS

Do not leave cell phones unattended or in unlocked lockers.  Cell phones were stolen on five (5) different dates at Farmington High School.  Some arrests were made and other suspects have been identified.

GPS devices are the current target of theft when left in autos.  Farmington Hills and Livonia recently had more than a dozen thefts.  Thieves will look for suction cup marks left on windshields even when the GPS is out of sight.

Please report unlicensed solicitors.  Several solicitors were ticketed during April, including a solicitor wanted on warrants, one of which was for larceny.

Be alert to report crime.  Farmington detectives executed numerous search warrants and arrested several individuals for identity theft and money counterfeiting in April as a result of alert and fast reporting from residents and business persons.
