Chief’s Message:
Welcome to the Farmington Public Safety Department website. I am pleased to share information about our department and professional staff of twenty-three public safety officers, eight civilians and several reserve personnel.
Public safety personnel stand committed to our department’s mission statement:
"To deliver superior public safety services with integrity
An d character, and to protect civil rights
Without prejudice or partiality."
Each member of the department remains committed to protecting civil rights and treating each person with dignity and respect.
Farmington public safety personnel are unique. Members of the department are certified police officers, fire fighters, and medical first responders. This unique concept is efficient and economical. The department has received national recognition and is well known in the community for our rapid response times. The public safety concept allows the department to deploy more police patrols in the absence of fire duties. Farmington is well known as a safe city.
The public safety department promotes crime prevention through the implementation of fifty-two community policing programs. The programs provide services and help protect Farmington’s 10,423 residents. The City of Farmington covers 2.7 square miles.
Although a safe community, the Farmington Public Safety Department is kept busy. The department responds to more than 6,000 calls for service each year and arrests approximately 900 persons. Detectives investigate approximately 220 criminal investigations each year and obtain 150 warrants. The fire department responds to approximately 100 runs each year, of which approximately 28 are actual fires. The department responds to more than 600 medical runs a year. A copy of the department’s annual report may be obtained by contacting the department’s records section.
Thank you for your interest and support. Don’t forget to check out the link to the City of Farmington website. I trust your visit to our website was informative.
Sincerely,
Charles Nebus
Public Safety Director
