2006 Accomplishments
Total residential and commercial burglaries decreased 41%. There were eighteen (18) less burglaries than the forty-four reported in 2005.
Seven (7) new technologies were added. Crime Watch Website, Dial Up Networking, Digital Closed Circuit Security System, In-Car NetRMS Reporting, Wireless Report Writing, Video Arraignments and Web LEIN. These technologies supplement the fifteen technologies added in 2005. 
The number of Community Policing programs increased to include: Bicycle Safety events, Crime Watch website, and the Sobriety Court Home Visit Program. The department now has fifty-four special services and programs.
The department received a Homeland Security grant for $13,000 to fund a new closed circuit security system for inside and outside the public safety building. 
The department received a $5,000 grant to purchase radar units, and "stop sticks" to end police chases. The grant resulted from the department's participation in "You Drink, You Drive, You Lost" and "Click It or Ticket" campaigns. 
The hard working members of the department apprehended a record number of criminals in 2006. According to 47th District Court records, 32% more felony cases were presented, 13.4% more misdemeanor cases and 9% more operating while impaired cases. 
The department ended 2006 fully staffed. The department promoted Richard Friess to Commander, Scott Brown to Sergeant and hired PSO Will Wood. The department also hired the first three fire reserves; Sean Skinner, Matt Schiffman and Jim Yuill.
Farmingtonpublicsafety.com, the department's new crime watch web site was introduced. 
The department communication center was redecorated and furnished with new furniture and consoles in preparation of the new county wide "Open Sky" radio system. 
No residents were killed or seriously injured in fires.
No public safety personnel were seriously injured or killed in police or fire incidents.
